... Or at least ditching this account and making a new one for myself that 'fits' better, enabling me to start over here.

Why?

DA is no longer a 'community' to me in that people actively wander around and find users' galleries all the time and comment with constructive criticism. It's become a place where people form 'friend groups'- people friend each other, vy for the xth page view for a kiriban (free pic from a fave artist), vy for the top artist of the day, deviant of the month, etc etc.

I started with Elfwood. Elfwood's file limits became too insane (under 700 pixels in either width or height, under 100kb), and it grew too big and out of control too fast. Then I joined Side7- its server was too slaggardly. Then VCL, which I still have, except the admin (no offense to them) are too picky- I used to receive complaints from them that "paper grain could be seen in my images" and that I should clean it up (with a shitty monitor disabling me from being able to see it in the first place). Plus, VCL was turning into a yiff art haven, and I couldn't 'seriously' send people my VCL link without beign labeled a yiffy artist right off the bat. Then Push Tyber told me about DA, and demanded I join, so I did.

It was supportive here for a while, but it got too big too fast, too competitive and not very supportive of newbies. Sure, I have people watching me, but looking through my gallery, hardly any constructive criticism (and of course, some hypocrisy here: little pageviews. Seriously. You can't be on DA without worrying about it at some point. It's like being an artist here is ONLY for the page views and bragging rights of saying x people are watching you).

Soo, I'm gonna start over with a new account and see how things go from there. I'll edit this post with my new account name.

EDIT: Wow, deleting journal entries on 56k takes forever (when you have 100+...).

EDIT II: I've moved most of my stuff over to ~nonanut, including friends (I will no longer receive updates to ~chibipush; they'll be at ~nonanut now.)
